Side work as a step, not a pile
Keep a square record of the joint
One weekly sheet — date, client, payment, costs, set-aside — keeps the rabbet visible at tax time.
A joint you cannot see is a joint you cannot check.
| Column | Why |
|---|---|
| Date and client | Shows how much of the step one person occupies |
| Payment | Total side income |
| Costs | Some may be deductible under local rules |
| Set-aside | Shows whether the reserve is keeping up |
Update it on a fixed day. Then decide if the next piece belongs in the step.
